Walks will be across grass fields, tracks and some
roads. Cultivated fields are possible.
Stiles, gates, and other obstacles are used, but most should be in good repair. However some in Mendip and Sedgemoor are poor and not likely to be replaced for a while. Come prepared for "English" weather and the effects both from the sky and the ground. On longer walks, drinks are a must and stops will be taken for consumption. Most of these and other walks will be published in simple form and generally available so that you can do them in your own time. Cars will be available at the pub for half day walks. A suitable Leader will be present, but for

| Back to Top | Pick up the new Three Peaks Walk
leaflets from the Castlebrook Inn and enjoy the best of the village
walks at your own speed.
Turn this basic walk into a number of others suitable for all ages. Pick up an Ordnance Survey Explorer map (orange Cover - Sheet 141) and look for other walks. Most rights oy way (green), in England and Wales are now available, but unfortunately elsewhere in Somerset, especially Mendip, the paths are not always clear. However, walking around villages is nearly always OK, and you can always enjoy the unseen aspects of life from paths "around the back". Try and pick a village with a pub for that welcome refreshment of your choice. Any problems on any path anywhere should be sent to the local highway authority, County Council, it is the only way they know that there are problems out there. In desperation contact Trevor Noyes for any advice on rights of way.
